Why would you want to read a bunch of columns from an online magazine for overclockers, unless you're some gamer supernerd who likes ancient history (in computer terms, that is)?First off, the columns are by David Gerrold, so you know whatever he writes about, he's going to make it interesting, even if you're not much of a geek. The man does know how to communicate extraordinarily well. Second, you won't be reading column after column of reviews of software and hardware that's now old hat. Note the "Thoughts on Technology and the Future" part of the title. That's what you're getting. Yes, that does age, but not nearly as fast as product reviews, and with Gerrold at the keyboard, it holds up very well over time.
These offerings are much more concerned with technology's effects on society and the world as a whole. You'll read about industries that haven't figured out what business they're really in and some that are figuring that out. Take the oil industry. Many in that industry still think they're in the business of selling oil, when they should be in the business of providing energy.
You'll read about how all this computer technology has changed the world over the past few decades from someone who's been thinking about the future since the '60s. You'll see these changes many be more far reaching than you might've thought.
Chances are excellent that you'll finish this book with a much better understanding of how all this new-fangled computer and technical stuff is shaping not only the way we all live, but the way we all think, even if the height of technological achievement for you was that one time you got your VCR to stop blinking "12:00" all the time.
Bonus: there's some marvelous puns scattered throughout. There's one at the end of the first article that was, for me, worth the $2.99 I paid to read this book on my Kindle. But there's so much more that makes this well worth buying and reading, even if you're only a little bit geeky like me.

Maximum Gerrold Thoughts on Technology and the Future (Audible Audio Edition) David Gerrold Dave Wright Digital Fabulists Books Reviews
This was absolutely a delightful read! I highly recommend it. A wonderful trip down memory lane as well as insight into our possible technological future with the convergence of technologies. Tribbles optional. Thankfully GR didn't attempt to re-write these as they are fantastic on their own. Thank you, David Gerrold.
